The fourth annual Care after Combat Summer Ball took place last week on Wednesday 18th July at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and it was a huge success.
These events of ours are always good, but this one had a special feel. Probably because everybody realised we were a bit strapped for cash. They all dug deep into their pockets. The North London Military Wives Choir entertained us with five songs, and Tenors Un Limited had everybody on their feet, dancing and singing. Jim’s son Charlie leading the chorus from the top of the table – claret in hand and singing loud and proud!
One of the highlights was Bobby Davro, who supplied the entertainment whilst compering the traditional “Heads and Tails” game. He was aided by former 30’s heart-throb Jess Conrad, one of the nicest men we know. Gorgeous George Galloway commented on LBC Radio that there wasn’t a dry eye or an un-cracked rib in the house. It was really funny, and when Jim joined in, the audience were howling with laughter.
A spokesperson for The Grosvenor House, said: “They’ve drank it all”…and we did!
A huge thank you to everyone that attended, bought stuff and also for our sponsors Onecom, Abbey Wealth, Andrews Sykes and IM Group.
Next up, is a one-off comedy spectacular billed as Legends; featuring comedy geniuses Jim Davidson, Jethro and special guests Bobby Davro, Mick Miller and Mike Osman.
Individually, they have all been on the stand-up scene for decades and will combine on the Eventim Apollo stage in London this December. This is all in aid of Care after Combat, and it’s going to be an absolute humdinger of an evening and one not to be missed!
