Founding trustee Simon Weston CBE today becomes our Patron. Simon’s work load in the charity sector is quite staggering and it has been said (by him) that it would kill a lesser man.
His concern was that with so much to do he will spread his self to thinly to make any real impact. Simon has worked hard with Jim and Goose to restructure the board of trustees and feels he can now step aside and become Patron.
Care after Combat’s main mission of preventing re-offending by veterans in the criminal justice system was Simon’s idea. It was something that was not being done. We took it on.
From the initial three trustees of Jim, Simon and Goose we now have, a board of 5 trustees including the wonderful Katherine Jenkins. We have four offices, fourteen staff and 100 mentors.
Simon said: “I am honoured to be offered the roll of Patron. I am proud of what we have achieved so far in such a short time and look forward to be part of the on going plans ,a lot of veterans are still fighting… for their lives”.
The residents of Simon Weston house have sent their best wishes and congratulations and they say he is welcome to come and buy them a pint anytime!
