Justice Minister Mike Penning attended the Care after Combat Inaugural Ball which took place on Tuesday, 31 March 2015 at The Dorchester, Park Lane. During his speech, Mr Penning confirmed that plans were already in place to trial Care after Combat’s mentoring scheme, Phoenix, in three prisons. “No matter who wins the election – Left or Right; red, blue or purple – we have ensured that these pilot schemes are going to go ahead. “ He continued, “Our service people are more important than party politics.”
Care after Combat are a committed team and are dedicated in supporting veterans who are most vulnerable and who have fallen on bad times and who need a helping hand. The Phoenix Team of mentors will be led by Patrick Geraghty, and will deal directly with veterans within the CJS. The mentors will ensure that the correct treatment and welfare package is available for them upon their release from prison.
